Mac Join Panasonic G10 AVCHD Lite Files to ProRes/AIC for Final Cut/iMovie on iMac/MacBook Pro

The Panasonic Lumix DMC G10 is described by Panasonic as a micro system camera. It has a relatively small body size, but can accept interchangeable lenses in the same way a Digital SLR can. It also has a set of advanced features similar to those you would expect to find on a Digital SLR. Key features include 12 megapixels, a 3 inch LCD screen and a viewfinder. The viewfinder has dioptre correction for adjusting the focus of the viewfinder to suit your eyesight.

I like this camera and want to use Final Cut or iMovie to edit videos from Lumix DMC G10 and make some projects, However, my Final Cut and iMovie does not import the DMC- G10 Lumix AVCHD Lite Videos. Via Google, I find that Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac is the recommended program to convert Mac Panasonic G10 AVCHD Lite to ProRes/AIC MOV for Final Cut Studio or iMovie.

Here is the step-by-step guide for you to import and edit Panasonic DMC-G10 Lumix AVCHD Lite to Final Cut or iMovie with Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac on iMac/MacBook Pro.

Step2. Create a Movie for merging/converting Panasonic G10 720p AVCHD Lite files to ProRes/AIC.
There are two ways for you to create a Movie for converting imported 720p MTS files. –The easiest one is dragging and dropping displayed AVCHD Lite files from Camcorder Tab area to a single Movie.
-Another way is clicking the drop-down button of “Add Movie” icon and choose “For Conversion” to create a blank movie. And then drag and drop the video clips from Camcorder Tab to the blank movie in Movies Tab. In this way, all video clips will be merged as one single movie for conversion.

Step3. Export ProRes or AIC video file for Final Cut Studio or iMovie.
Click the Export button and choose “Export into Editor”. Follow Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 HQ (*.mov) or QuickTime Movie Format > Apple Intermediate Codec (*.mov) to choose output format for editing in Final Cut or iMovie. And then set the video size to 1080*720 for keeping original high resolution. Finally click OK to start Converting/Joining 720p AVCHD Lite to ProRes/AIC.

After converting the AVCHD Lite files, just import the output files to Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express(FCE) 4) or iMovie 8/9/11 and the video is in HD 1280*720.
